| 50-2000 Ambulance installation We're showing various parts of the installation so you can get an idea of what it is about There are four major parts of the system: Evaporator- heater Condenser Compressor Controller Let's start with the evaporator |
| Shown is a typical squad bench with the seat
lifted. The space underneath the seat
is
where we want to mount the evaporator-heater. |
| We'll mount the evap to the floor of the
bench. We provide a drain pan to surround the entire evap assembly. With the evap mounted , we need to create an opening for the air to exit. Take notice of the hole drilled with a hole saw to the left of the template. The three speed blower switch is mounted here!. |
| We' ve cut the opening, mounted the evap,
drilled the hole for the switchplate, You can see the switchplate over the drilled hole(far left photo) ![]() You can see the orange caps on the refrigerant lines, use a hole saw to create an opening directly below for the electrical lines and refrigerant lines. We provide an air return grille with this system, It should be mounted at the opposite end of the bench (Next to the curbside door) |
Let's do the digital thermostat
Usually goes in the action area Better to locate it here because the controller will be behind it in the exterior cabinet On to the Controller |
| The controller will typically mount in a
streetside cabinet . This is the best place since the shoreline connector and breaker box(included)will be close by Before the driver enters the vehicle, they can unplug the shorepower ![]() |
| You can see how the wiring is routed out
of the cabinet |
Then secured to the floor above the frame
rails
|
| The wiring to the curbside framerail.Grey
wires for the condenser& blower switch 115 volt wire for the compressor, 115 volt wire for the heater |
The condenser and compressor are mounted
side by side under the squad bench![]() |
| A shot of the compressor mounted to the frame There's not a fan for the compressor, in fact we have mounted the compressor inside on several installations. You can also see the charging ports(blue and red caps) ![]() You can see one of the bolt heads to the right of the compressor body securing the frame bracket to the frame. Ford F-series frame rail shown. |
| That's the basic install of the components.Of
course there's wiring and hoses. Vacuum the system, charge with R134a. It's a custom installation on any vehicle, with the advantages of Not seeing a roof mounted unit! No overhead clearance issues Lower center of gravity Designed and built for MOBILITY. Proven reliability. Back to systems page |
